Subject: Saving Face, Episode VII: This that and the other thing

Hi there.

I so desperately want to have something sparkly or fun to report, but really, this was just a nice relaxing week. I am wishing you all a wonderful weekend celebrating independence of any sort.

As always,

alice

p.s. The film is starting to close in some markets (it might be closing soon in New York City, San Francisco, etc) so if you know of anyone who wants to see it, now would be the time. Thanks again for your vigilance!

All goes well until Wil discovers Ma on her doorstep--she has also been living a secret life and is pregnant and unmarried, which is not acceptable in their traditional Chinese-American community--and the worlds of family, love, lust and secrets come together.

at the ANGELIKA (in Soho) and the AMC 25 (on 42nd Street)

Saving Face is a heartwarming romantic comedy centered on a mother and daughter's journey through mutual understanding and affirmation. First time filmmaker Alice Wu gave up her computer programming career to pursue the dream of making films. She created this surprisingly charming and personal piece while writing with her mother. It's also the first American theatrical release featuring an Asian American lesbian couple.

Welcome to the Saving Face BLOG!

    Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Saving Face BLOG. We host this blog for collecting information and news of the film "Saving Face". "Saving Face" is a story of the journey of mutual understanding of a mother and a daughter. It's a story of contemporary and cultural taboos, love, honesty, and respect. It’s also the first American theatrical release film featuring an Asian American lesbian couple.

We have various reasons to support "Saving Face" and recommend it to you. Besides wanting to increase Asian lesbian visibility, combating homophobia through mass media, ensuring the support for Asian American films, promoting the director Alice Wu as an out lesbian filmmaker, we also share the message Alice tries to say with the film; that is, EVERYONE WANTS TO LOVE, and IT'S ALWAYS NOT TOO LATE TO LOVE.

The film was sold-out at its world debut last fall in Toronto and received high marks at the Sundance Film Festival and is expected to offer broad appeal when it opens in theaters in May. We are looking forward to seeing you join us in the theater this May. It indeed is a film for everyone.

    Sincerely,

    Mai, YY, Bin
